Nehru college of educational and charitable trust, established at an auspicious moment in the year 1968, with the primary objective of rendering selfless, dedicated and yeomen service to the cause of higher education originally in the field of aeronautical engineering and subsequently in the other engineering branches, management, arts, science and paramedical sciences and has added feather after feather to its cap. Nehru College of Aeronautics and Applied Sciences(NCAAS) is a collaborative institution of Alagappa university, Karaikudi and one of the renowned colleges in Tamil Nadu offering under graduate and post graduate programs to aspirants for the aviation industry.

This college also takes up the pride of being recognized by the Directorate general of civil aviation for the Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) programme. This is the first institute in South India that is approved by the DGCA for conducting the AME programme in categories B1.1 (Aeroplan, turbo engines) and B2 (Avionics) streams.

About the Course

Aircraft Maintenance Engineers are primarily responsible for keeping the Aircraft in an airworthy condition and release the aircraft for flight by issuing certificate of release to service (CRS). Airworthiness of such vital components are being certified by Aircraft Maintenance Engineer holding AME Licences in the respective trades.

The institution is approved under CAR 147(Basic), by the Director General of Civil Aviation, Government of India, New Delhi as per international training standards..

Scope of Approval

The college is approved by DGCA to impart basic aircraft maintenance engineering training in following field categories.
B1.1 Aeroplane Turbine
B2 Avionics

Training:

The course duration two and half year (five semester.) consisting theoretical and practical training. The practical training included training at Air India Engineering Services Ltd., Trivandrum, Airworks, Hosur and Kochi in live Boeing & Airbus aircraft, in each semester. The attendance percentage required for students is 90% in each semester. The training will be conducted by the college on Hawker HS-125-IA, Cessna 150 aeroplans and Bell 47 G5 helicopter. In addition, extensive use of system mockup, aero engines and components are used in the various practical workshops held in this college will also be made for practical exercise as per approved syllabus. On successful completion of the course, Training Manager will issue course certificate as per the DGCA approved format, which is mandatory to get job in aviation Industry.
